Best Confidence Decoys 2026
Updated: Sep 19
Confidence decoys are a simple way to add extra realism to your decoy spread this season.
What are Confidence Decoys?
If you're around the waterfowl community long enough, you'll hear the term confidence decoys thrown around. But what the heck are they?
The easiest way to explain it is decoys of other species than what your targeting.
For example, you could add in a handful of sandhill crane decoys near your spread, even though you aren't hunting them at all.
One of the most common confidence decoys is the coot.
They have a bad reputation with waterfowl hunters as bad eating birds, but they are one of the most wary birds on the water... and the ducks know that!
So if you can throw a group of coot decoys off to the side of your spread, it can get more birds landing in your spread.
Another option is to just throw in a little group of goose decoys.
Something like a cackling goose will be on the smaller side and gives you a shot at on geese that pass by your spread
Best Coot Decoys
Avian-X TopFlight Coot Decoys
Coots are notorious for being extremely wary birds...
And ducks know that!
The life like attention to detail in these Avian-X Coots will give ducks a little boost of confidence they need to finish in your spread.
Best Motion Confidence Decoys
MOJO Coot Confidence Decoy
Mojo made this group of confidence decoys fairly unique...
There's 4 standard coot decoy, nothing crazy there.
But there's also 2 coot rippler decoys.
These ripplers are nice for adding subtle movement to your spread with the extra bonus of being coot confidence decoys.
They're a 2 for 1 on realism to finish those weary late season birds.
Best Heron Decoy
Higdon Heron Decoy
Your not going to find another BIG confidence decoy better than this Heron from Higdon.
The only real downside here is its size.
Best Budget Confidence Decoys
Northern Flight Goose Silhouette Decoys
You can keep things simple with confidence decoys.
Grab a cheap set of goose Silhouette Decoys and even that's enough to improve your spread.
Depending on where you live you can get Speckle Belly Goose Silos or Canada Goose Silos...
But either way, that little bit of extra effort to not only stand out from everyone else hunting near you but also to add extra realism is going to help you finish birds.
