Samick Sage

The Samick Sage is the most popular recurve bow for beginners and has been for a few years now.

What’s nice about the Samick Sage is that it’s available in a variety of draw weights that fit almost every type of beginner archer.

Having the right draw weight is especially important for new archers because going too heavy leads to poor form and inaccurate shooting.

Because the Sage is so popular they also sell stand alone limbs so you can start at one draw weight and replace your bow limbs later to have a higher draw weight.

One of my favorite features of this bow is that you don’t need tools to take it down like some other bows.

The bolts have small handles on the end that allow you to take the bow down by hand.

Tachyon Recurve

The Tachyon Recurve is a newer bow that is similar to the Samick Sage, but not as popular.

Because it’s newer it doesn’t have as many glowing positive reviews, but it still has 4.5 Stars on Amazon.

Where it really differentiates itself from the Sage is that it is less expensive.

It has the same key Specs and the similar features, but if cost is your biggest concern, this can save you a few bucks.

Cabela’s Warden

The Cabela’s Warden is a great option for some archers.

It’s a beautiful recurve with pre-installed bushings for accessories.

The biggest positive for this bow is that it’s from a large US brand that has a lot of customer support.

That being said, there’s also a downside…

Cabela’s only offers the Warden in 2 draw weights: 45 and 50 pounds…

AND it’s only available as a right handed bow.

Unfortunately, that dwindles down who this bow would be suitable for to a portion of the new archers out there...

But if that’s the size you need, then this is a great bow to start with!

Vista Monarch 62'' Recurve Bow

The Vista Monarch is another beautiful bow with a very traditional look to it.

The riser has a very nice wood grain to it that looks like older bows.

It does come with an arrow rest if you prefer to not shoot off the shelf.

The biggest drawback is similar to the Warden: it only comes in a handful of draw weights

However, these draw weights are better suited for most beginner archers: 30 lbs., 35 lbs., and 40 lbs.
